UCSF may submit 1 application per Fellowship opportunity
WHAT:
The Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation Fellowship Programs
- The Fellowship in Child and Adolescent ADHD
- The Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Depression
PURPOSE:
- To support post-doctoral investigators so they may go on to lead larger, groundbreaking projects in child and adolescent psychiatry
- To help post-doctoral investigators bridge the early stages of their careers and establish careers as funded scientists through K awards or other grants
ELIGIBILITY:
- Must hold PhD and/or MD
- Must have completed all clinical training
- Should be at the junior faculty level, although the Foundation will consider applications nominating candidates in research training programs
- Must have a commitment to pediatric psychiatry
- Investigators who have K awards or have applied for K awards are eligible
- Investigators who have not applied for Ks and hope to use KTGF fellowship as a stepping stone to a K award or other funding are eligible
- Investigators who have already received R01 awards from NIMH are not eligible
- The Foundation generally funds human research but is willing to consider translational studies conducted with animals, provided there is clear and demonstrable relevance to human populations
BUDGET AND PROJECT PERIOD:
- $30,000 per year for two-year project period
NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS UCSF MAY SUBMIT: 1 for each opportunity
DUE DATES:
- INTERNAL DEADLINE: 3pm, Tuesday October 26, 2010 (note change of deadline receipt time)
- Contracts and Grants Deadline: 9am, Friday, January 7, 2011
- Agency Deadline: Friday, January 14, 2011
Please note: the aforementioned dates refer to Phase I (Nomination Phase) of the application process. Should the nominee be invited to apply to Phase II (Fellowship Application Phase), full applications have the following due dates:
- Contracts and Grants Deadline: 9am, Thursday, March 17, 2011
- Agency Deadline: Friday, March 25, 2011

- Limited Submission Pre-proposal Cover Sheet with signatures (form attached to email)
- Project Abstract (1-pg. max., 12-point, Times New Roman font, with one-inch page margins; it may be single-spaced and must be written for a layperson’s understanding) addressing the following:
- Hypothesis
- Methods
- Designs
- Outcomes/goals
- NIH Bio-sketch (4-pg. max., including publications) (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/biosketch.doc)
- One Letter of Support from Department Chair addressing the following:
- Availability of time, space and resources
- If grant is awarded, access to appropriate faculty support
- Statement of support for the proposed study
- List of Current and Pending Support
